My Daily Apps 📲
Hello makers,
I hope you're enjoying this Serial Maker newsletter! Join me and other Serial Makers on Discord. Check out the past editions if you missed them. And if you know someone who might benefit from this newsletter, please forward this email to a friend 😀
I have 383 apps installed on my iPhone. Although I use a lot of apps, there is only a handful I'm tapping on daily to improve my productivity, better myself, and to stay focused on the things that are important to me.
These are the 5 apps I use every day.
DuolingoÂ
This is my in-between time app. If I'm having a snack, or feeding the baby, I'll run through a quick Duolingo session. I've completed Spanish, and I'm working my way through French. If you're looking to learn a foreign language, Duolingo is a fun way to do it. I'll often refer my clients to Duolingo as a shining example of effective gamification in an app. Check out their podcasts and stories, too. Friend me @craigphares in the app.

InsightTimer
This year I've moved away from guided meditation apps, and have been working on longer, unguided meditation sessions. InsightTimer is one of the best meditation timers available. I've set up custom interval bells to sound off every 5 minutes, plus an extra bell at 16 minutes and 19 minutes. My custom timer and bell schedule is saved as a preset, so I don't have to configure it for each meditation session. If you're wondering, I give myself 1 minute at the 15-minute mark to let my mind wander, and I resume paying attention to my surroundings at 19 minutes, hence the extra bells.

Numerics
You can track anything with Numerics. Build your own dashboard full of widget visualizations for all sorts of data from a variety of cloud services. I use Numerics mainly to track Link My Photos stats, pulled from my ChartMogul account, so at any time, I can get a visual on how my SaaS service is performing. And it works great on the Apple Watch, too.

Daykeeper
This is a work in progress, but I've been using my own app as a bullet journal replacement for several months now. I keep a log of all my long-term, short-term, and daily goals, along with notes and lists for ideas. It really helps to keep me on track with work, side-projects, and life goals. It's getting better each day, and I can't wait to share this app with you!
Â
Notion
I'm using Notion to write the content for my upcoming Serial Maker eBook. Having this writing app on my phone lets me fire up a writing session from anywhere, picking up right where I left off. It's been a great experience, and I highly recommend it for distraction-free writing.
What apps do you use every day? Reply, and let me know!
Keep making, and thanks for reading! 🙌
Hit reply to tell me what you're making. I'm looking for anyone interested in talking about their own side-projects and maker journey, so speak up if you'd like to appear in Serial Maker. I'd also love to know what you thought of this issue, and what you want to hear about in the future. And don't forget to continue the conversation on Discord!
Until next week,
Craig
