Discord! 💬
Hello friends!
I hope you're enjoying this Serial Maker newsletter! If you missed any of the past editions, make sure to check them out. And if you know someone who might benefit from this newsletter, please forward this email to a friend. 😀
I'm super excited to announce the launch of the new Serial Maker Discord channel! Join the channel to connect with other makers in the Serial Maker community and talk about tech, art, design, and whatever else you're working on.

Community during remote times
Many of us are working from home as best we can. I miss my coworking space. How can we maintain a sense of community when we're all staying as far away from each other as possible?
Over the last few weeks, a number of us have connected on Zoom calls for coffee talks, lunch hangs, and virtual happy hours. And those have really helped to keep some sanity in these social distancing times.
More recently, someone suggested we start up something more significant, like a Discord channel (thanks Kevin!). To get the ball rolling, I launched our very own Serial Maker Discord. After just a few days, we have 23 members and a pretty active conversation thread spanning topics like side projects, cloud hosting, fancy keyboards, and email provider solutions.
Come join us!
I'm excited to see how this community evolves!

The future of Serial Maker
Since launching the channel, I've been evolving the concept of Serial Maker as a whole. There's a brand new website and a whole new style. I've always wanted to do a tDR (The Designers Republic) design, and here was a perfect opportunity.
So this newsletter may shift into something less personal and more branded. It may get a facelift to start looking more like its new identity. I'm not sure where to go from here, but I'd love to know your thoughts.

Finally, one correction from last week
"The best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question; it’s to post the wrong answer."
—Cunningham’s Law
I'm a big believer in lifelong learning, and by simply putting out an inferior solution in Quick and dirty static sites I've been informed of so many better options. Read the corrected follow-up in Even quicker dirty static sites. You don't know what you don't know.
Keep making, and thanks for reading! 🙌
Hit reply to tell me what you're making. I'm looking for anyone interested in talking about their own side-projects and maker journey, so speak up if you'd like to appear in Serial Maker. I'd also love to know what you thought of this issue, and what you want to hear about in the future.
Until next week,
Craig
